Charly is Home!

Charly, our buck (pictured with me when he was 2 weeks old in February 2009), lived with us for a year before we finally concluded that an urban homestead is not a good habitat for an intact buck. It was hard to let him go, but we are so pleased he has a good home with a wonderful young man named Chris on 11 acres in Orange County, NC. Chris agreed to allow Charly to come back for breeding season, so here he is, all grown up and home for a conjugal visit.
I am so pleased with the mature goat he has become. He is gentle and easy going. Bottle feeding and lots of human contact as a buckling really does make a difference. He has a full beard and is very sleek from a diet of browse (mostly) and lots of exercise. Life in the goat yard has certainly changed since he arrived! He has been busy and my does have been receptive, so I anticipate a nursery full of little doelings and bucklings next February. I can't wait!
